A BILL
To amend title 38, United States Code, to make certain improvements in the laws relating to the appointment of the Under Secretary of Health and Assistant Under Secretaries of Health of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Veterans Health Administration Leadership Transformation Act''.
SEC. 2. OFFICE OF THE UNDER SECRETARY FOR HEALTH OF THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS.
(a) Term of Under Secretary.--Section 305(a)(1) of title 38, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new sentence: ``An individual appointed to serve as the Under Secretary of Health shall be appointed for a term of five years.''.
(b) Elimination of Certain Requirements for Assistant Under Secretaries.--Section 7306 of such title is amended--
(1) by striking subsection (b);
(2) by redesignating subsections (c) through (g) as subsections (b) through (f), respectively; and
(3) in subsection (c), as so redesignated, by striking ``subsection (e)'' and inserting ``subsection (d)''. Union Calendar No. 795
