Flag errors in a promise or its sources with sourced counter-evidence. A reviewer rules on the proposed change.
Propose edits
Suggest a sourced field-level fix to a promise or politician record. A reviewer reviews and applies it.
Submit media & arguments
Add supporting media or sourced debate arguments that enrich the record.
Vote & comment
Weigh in on contributions and discuss the record — all permanently attributed to your username.
Authoring a new promise directly is unlocked once the StumpWatch team grants you Established status — the team reviews accounts and promotes contributors based on their record. Until then, your sourced corrections and edits build the same record (and your Political Capital). See how recognition works.
Core rules
- Every claim needs a primary, publicly verifiable source.
- Record the literal words of the promise — no spin, no framing.
- Disclose any affiliation with a politician whose record you are editing.
- Disputes are decided by reviewers, not by the parties in the dispute.
- All contributions are permanently attributed to your username.
Fund the work
Not everyone has time to add edits — and that’s fine. Donations keep StumpWatch independent and help us widen the record so more promises get watched and held to account. StumpWatch is pursuing nonprofit status; donations are not currently tax-deductible.
