A BILL
To amend the Advancing Research to Prevent Suicide Act to expand the areas of focus regarding childhood suicide, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Youth Suicide Prevention Research Act''.
SEC. 2. NSF RESEARCH REGARDING CHILDHOOD SUICIDE.
Subsection (a) of section 3 of the Advancing Research to Prevent Suicide Act (42 U.S.C. 1862v) is amended--
(1) in paragraph (4), by striking ``and'' after the semicolon;
(2) by redesignating paragraph (5) as paragraph (7); and
(3) by inserting after paragraph (4) the following new paragraphs:
``(5) basic understanding of the role of adverse childhood experiences;
``(6) basic understanding of the role of toxic stress in childhood; and''. <all>
