R. 3281 To prohibit the reduction, elimination, or suspension of funding for land-grant colleges and universities. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES May 8, 2025 Mr. Figures (for himself, Ms. McClellan, Ms. Sewell, Mrs. Foushee, Mr. Thompson of Mississippi, Mr. Johnson of Georgia, Mr. Ivey, Mr. Fields, Ms. Kelly of Illinois, Mr. David Scott of Georgia, and Ms. Kamlager- Dove) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture, and in addition to the Committee on Education and Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To prohibit the reduction, elimination, or suspension of funding for land-grant colleges and universities. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. PROHIBITION ON REDUCTION, ELIMINATION, OR SUSPENSION OF FUNDING FOR LAND-GRANT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. (a) In General.--The Secretary of Agriculture, or any other Federal official, may not take any action to reduce, eliminate, or suspend funding for land-grant colleges and universities, unless such reduction, elimination, or suspension is specifically authorized by an Act of Congress. (b) Land-Grant Colleges and Universities Defined.--In this section, the term ``land-grant colleges and universities'' has the meaning given such term in section 1404 of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3103). <all>
