following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

A BILL

To amend the definition of State in title I of the Omnibus Crime 
Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ``Northern Mariana Islands and 
American Samoa Criminal Justice Support Act''.

SEC. 2. DEFINITION OF STATE.

Section 901(a)(2) of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe 
Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10251(a)(2)) is amended by striking 
``Northern Mariana Islands'' and all that follows through 
``Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.'' and inserting 
``Northern Mariana Islands;''.
