Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Securing Smart Investments in our Ports Act''. SEC. 2. PORT INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. (a) Port and Intermodal Improvement Program.--Section 54301(a)(6)(B) of title 46, United States Code, is amended-- (1) in clause (ii), by striking ``and'' after the semicolon; (2) in clause (iii), by striking the period and inserting ``; and''; and (3) by adding at the end the following: ``(iv) ensuring equitable geographic distribution among regions of the United States with regard to the projects selected.''. (b) Assistance for Small Inland River and Coastal Ports and Terminals.--Section 54301(b)(4) of title 46, United States Code, is amended-- (1) in subparagraph (B), by striking ``; and''; (2) in subparagraph (C), by striking the period at the end and inserting ``; and''; and (3) by adding at the end the following: ``(D) ensure equitable geographic distribution among regions of the United States with regard to the projects selected.''. <all>
