R. 7200 To require verification of employment authorization through the E- Verify Program as a condition of issuance or renewal of a commercial driver's license. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES January 22, 2026 Mr. Biggs of Arizona introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To require verification of employment authorization through the E- Verify Program as a condition of issuance or renewal of a commercial driver's license. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Verification of Employment and Residency Integrity For Commercial Driver's Licenses Act'' or the ``VERIFY CDL Act''. SEC. 2. E-VERIFY REQUIREMENT FOR COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE ISSUANCE AND RENEWAL. Section 31305(b)(2) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: ``(3) A State may issue or renew any commercial driver's license only if the individual's authorization to be employed in the United States has been verified through the E-Verify Program (as defined in section 403(a) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1324a note)) at the time of application for issuance or renewal of such license.''. <all>
