Ms. Sewell) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the 
Committee on Agriculture

A BILL

To amend the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching 
Policy Act of 1977 to make improvements to the veterinary services 
grant program, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ``Veterinary Education Equity Act''.

SEC. 2. VETERINARY SERVICES GRANT PROGRAM.

Section 1415B of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and 
Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3151b) is amended--
(1) in subsection (a)(1)--
(A) in subparagraph (F), by striking ``or'' at the 
end;
(B) in subparagraph (G), by striking the period at 
the end and inserting ``; or''; and
(C) by adding at the end the following:
``(H) 1890 Institutions, as defined in section 2 of 
the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education 
Reform Act of 1998 (7 U.S.C. 7601).''; and
(2) in subsection (c), by adding at the end the following:
``(5) Priorities.--In making grants under the program under 
subsection (b), the Secretary shall provide a higher priority 
to projects at 1890 Institutions.''.
