Mr. Bell introduced the following bill; which was referred to the 
Committee on Financial Services

A BILL

To require the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to access 
unmet community development-related needs in areas impacted by 
disasters on an ongoing basis, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ``CDBG-DR Automated Assessment Act''.

SEC. 2. UNMET NEEDS ASSESSMENT REQUIRED.

The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (in this section 
referred to as the ``Secretary'') shall not later than 60 days after 
the President declares a major disaster under the ``Robert T. Stafford 
Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act'' and quarterly 
thereafter--
(1) use Federal disaster and housing data available to the 
Secretary to--
(A) evaluate damage to housing and infrastructure 
in the area impacted by the disaster; and
(B) identify shortages in affordable housing and 
broader economic recovery needs; and
(2) submit to the Congress a report about the analysis 
conducted under paragraph (1) that identifies any unmet needs 
in the area impacted by the disaster that could be addressed 
using amounts appropriated for Community Development Block 
Grant Disaster Recovery and other related Federal disaster 
programs.
