Contributor Terms

Effective June 23, 2026 · Operated by AideaMaker LLC · Governing law: Bexar County, Texas

These Contributor Terms supplement the StumpWatch Terms of Service and apply to any user who submits contributions — promises, sources, corrections, debate arguments, or other content — to the StumpWatch platform. By creating a StumpWatch account, you agree to these terms.

Note: accounts created before June 23, 2026 may complete their agreement from the Contribute page.

§ CT-1 Accuracy obligation

You represent that each submission is, to the best of your knowledge, accurate and backed by verifiable facts drawn from the cited source. Every contribution must be grounded in evidence anyone can independently check — never in opinion, inference, or recollection. Opinion is never recorded as fact. Knowingly submitting false information is grounds for immediate account suspension.

§ CT-2 Faithful, in-context representation

Every promise, position, or statement you record must reflect the politician's true stated position, presented in full context and as they meant it. Do not selectively quote, truncate, paraphrase, or frame a statement in any way that changes its meaning, omits material context, or advances an agenda — for or against the official, or for any party or cause. Capture the complete content and present it honestly, neutrally, and without spin. Framing a politician's words, position, or promise in a misleading way that appears intentional is grounds for immediate suspension or a permanent ban. When in doubt, quote the source in full and link to it so readers can judge for themselves.

§ CT-3 Original sources required

You must cite a primary, publicly accessible source for every factual claim — the original speech, document, recording, vote, or official record itself, not a report about it. Paraphrases, secondary accounts, and summaries do not satisfy this requirement, and a claim no reader can trace back to a primary source will not be recorded as fact.

§ CT-4 License to publish

You grant StumpWatch a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to publish, archive, and reproduce your contributions under the CC BY 4.0 license, attributed to your public username.

§ CT-5 Attribution is permanent

Your username will be permanently associated with your contributions in the public revision log. You cannot retract attribution after submission.

§ CT-6 Conflict-of-interest disclosure

You must disclose any employment, financial, familial, or political relationship with a politician whose record you edit. Failure to disclose a material conflict is grounds for reversal and suspension.

§ CT-7 No coordination with subjects

You may not submit edits at the direction of, or in coordination with, the political subject of that record unless you hold a CLAIMED_CANDIDATE role granted by StumpWatch administration and the edit is clearly marked as a candidate response.

§ CT-8 Good-faith disputes only

Filing a dispute is a commitment to the process. Bad-faith disputes — submitted to obstruct rather than to correct — are sanctionable.

§ CT-9 Governing law

These Contributor Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Disputes are subject to binding arbitration in Bexar County, Texas, per the StumpWatch Terms of Service.
