This 2020-campaign promise predated Russia's full-scale invasion, and Biden delivered it at scale. A March 16, 2022 White House fact sheet documented $2 billion in security assistance - including Stinger and Javelin systems - committed since the start of the administration, and weapons packages continued throughout the term, with Biden announcing nearly $2.5 billion more (a $1.25 billion drawdown and a $1.22 billion USAI package) on December 30, 2024. Over the term the U.S. provided tens of billions of dollars in weapons, from artillery rounds and rockets to armored vehicles, plainly fulfilling the pledge to provide more security assistance to strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend itself.
