Across his full term (Jan. 20, 2021 - Jan. 20, 2025), Biden did not lead a national effort to end cash bail, and no federal technical assistance program to move jurisdictions off cash bail was established. His administration's flagship crime proposal, the August 2022 Safer America Plan, engaged the pretrial system only through supervision and court-backlog funding and never mentions bail. The White House's own February 2023 accounting of its public-safety and policing record likewise contains no bail or pretrial-reform measure, and no bail legislation was proposed or advanced by the administration.
