No federal statute, rule, or formal administration proposal requiring that firearms be sold only with biometric (smart-gun) authorization emerged during Biden's term (Jan 2021-Jan 2025). His administration's gun agenda, from the April 7, 2021 initial executive actions through the March 14, 2023 executive order and its standing legislative asks to Congress, never included a biometric sale mandate, and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (June 25, 2022) contained no smart-gun provision. Despite an active four-year gun-policy agenda that presented repeated opportunities to at least propose the policy, the administration never engaged it.
