Biden backed the DISCLOSE Act, which matched this pledge by requiring groups running election ads to disclose contributors above $10,000, and delivered dedicated White House remarks on September 20, 2022 urging the Senate to pass it. On September 22, 2022 the Senate rejected cloture 49-49, and no such donor-disclosure law was enacted before his term ended January 20, 2025. He pushed for the promised legislation, but it did not become law.
