Independently verified. On January 20, 2025 (day one of his second term) Trump signed Executive Order 14160, 'Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship,' explicitly to end birthright citizenship for U.S.-born children of unauthorized or temporarily-present immigrants (confirmed by Wikipedia, AILA, govinfo DCPD-202500127, and Congress.gov CRS products). He personally led and drove the effort far beyond a single vote, defending the order through nationwide-injunction litigation up to the Supreme Court. The promise was NOT achieved, however: every lower court blocked the order and the Supreme Court struck it down 6-3 on June 30, 2026 in Trump v. Barbara (docket 25-365), holding that such children 'are citizens at birth' under the Fourteenth Amendment (confirmed by SCOTUSblog, CNN, Washington Post, NPR, CBS News, and the National Constitution Center). Because he actively initiated and championed the effort as president but it did not land, CHAMPIONED (+0.75) is correct — FULL would overstate it (birthright citizenship remains fully in effect) and ATTEMPTED would understate the presidential leadership involved. Label is party-neutral: an identical day-one-EO-then-struck-down record would earn CHAMPIONED for either party. All three prior-rating sources are real, live, and accurately quoted.
