DHS rescinded the 2014 DAPA memorandum in June 2017 and announced the termination of DACA on Sept. 5, 2017 - actions taken months into the term rather than 'immediately.' The Supreme Court vacated the DACA rescission on June 18, 2020 in DHS v. Regents, so DACA outlived his first term, and under a Jan. 17, 2025 Fifth Circuit order USCIS continues to process DACA renewals as of mid-2026. One of the two programs was terminated, while the attempt to end the other was blocked in court, leaving the promise partly kept.
