Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
All three promised actions occurred during the 2017-2021 term. Executive Order 13809 (August 28, 2017) restored local police access to surplus federal equipment by revoking 2015-era restrictions, and the Senate confirmed 234 of Trump's Article III judicial nominees, including three Supreme Court justices, alongside new U.S. attorneys. On gangs, the Justice Department's Joint Task Force Vulcan targeted MS-13, with Attorney General Barr announcing in July 2020 that the gang's U.S. leadership had been dismantled; its top 'Ranfla Nacional' leaders were indicted in January 2021. Gangs were not eliminated nationwide, but the promised police support, appointments, and gang-takedown operations were delivered at scale.
