A historically large removal campaign is underway: ICE recorded roughly 150,000 deportations in the first six months of the second term, its leadership testified to more than 475,000 removals in the first year (Feb. 10, 2026), and the July 2025 reconciliation law made ICE the highest-funded federal law-enforcement agency. Those are the highest ICE-era annual totals in more than a decade, but they remain below the administration's own one-million-per-year target and below the scale of the 1954 'Eisenhower model' operation the promise invokes, and deportation-counting methods are contested. As of July 3, 2026, with the term ongoing, the operation is very large but not yet established as the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.
