The Navy was deployed to regional waters for counter-drug missions: the destroyer USS Gravely sailed on March 15, 2025 carrying a Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment trained to board and inspect vessels, followed within days by USS Spruance on the Pacific side, and from late 2025 into 2026 a larger naval campaign struck dozens of suspected smuggling boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. However, no comprehensive 'full Fentanyl Blockade' built on systematic boarding and inspection was established; the later campaign relied on lethal strikes rather than the promised boarding-and-inspection regime, and most fentanyl enters through land ports of entry. Rated PARTIAL because naval assets were deployed against maritime drug trafficking, but well short of the blockade as described.
