Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
The pledge was specific: urge Congress to make trafficking children across the border a capital crime. No record of such a request since January 20, 2025 was identified: Executive Order 14164 (January 20, 2025) directs capital prosecution for murders of law enforcement officers and capital crimes by aliens illegally present but does not mention child trafficking, and in his March 4, 2025 joint address to Congress his only death-penalty legislative request was to codify a mandatory death penalty for murdering a police officer. Having made repeated adjacent death-penalty asks of Congress while omitting this one through July 2, 2026, the promise has had clear opportunity but no meaningful engagement.
