On April 28, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Order 14288, directing the Attorney General to create a mechanism providing legal resources and indemnification (including pro bono defense) for officers sued over official-duty actions, to increase officer pay and benefits, and to pursue legal remedies against state or local officials who obstruct criminal law enforcement. This is concrete executive action on the officer-protection and prosecutor-accountability planks of the promise. However, the order largely directs future agency action, and as of July 2026 there is no comparable evidence of completed federal delivery on 'replenishing Police Departments,' such as enacted hiring or funding legislation.
