AttemptedGuns & the Second Amendment

I will ask Congress to send a bill to my desk delivering national concealed carry reciprocity. Just like your driver's license and marriage license, your Second Amendment must apply across state lines.

AttemptedFact-checker reviewConfidence: 70%

The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38) was introduced in January 2025, approved by the House Judiciary Committee on March 25, 2025, and reported to the full House on October 3, 2025 (H. Rept. 119-337), but as of July 2, 2026 it has not received a House floor vote, has not passed the Senate, and no reciprocity bill has reached the president's desk. No formal White House legislative request to Congress has been documented, though Trump has continued to voice support for the measure during his second term and pledged to sign it, reportedly saying in June 2026 that his administration is 'working on' national right-to-carry legislation. An effort that was formally advanced in Congress with the president's stated backing but has not landed rates as ATTEMPTED.
