Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
Trump began the rollback within weeks of taking office: a February 7, 2025 executive order directed a DOJ review of all Biden-era firearms actions, the ATF's 'zero tolerance' inspection policy was repealed on April 7, 2025, and in spring 2026 DOJ and ATF published a package of 34 proposed and final rules unwinding Biden-era regulations, including the pistol-brace restriction. As of July 2, 2026, however, the rollback of 'every' Biden action is not complete — several repeals remain at the proposed stage, and NPR reported in May 2026 that ATF is still 'working to unravel some' changes tied to the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. With the term ongoing and delivery substantial but incomplete, this rates PARTIAL.
