On February 7, 2025, Trump signed EO 14206, which directed the Attorney General to review ATF's 'enhanced regulatory enforcement policy' - the 2021 zero-tolerance policy under which federal firearms license revocations rose sharply for specified willful violations. On April 7, 2025, DOJ and ATF repealed that policy, and the Attorney General created a 2nd Amendment Task Force citing burdens the prior administration had placed on gun owners and vendors. The promised directive ending the license-revocation crackdown on gun dealers was delivered within the first three months of the term.
