Trump signed Executive Order 14394 on March 13, 2026, directing agencies to eliminate or reform federal regulations that raise home-construction costs, alongside a companion order easing mortgage-lending rules. The regulatory-elimination component of the promise is underway, but the stated goal of cutting the cost of a new home in half has not materialized: the median existing-home price was $398,000 in February 2026, roughly five times median household income, and new-home prices have not fallen by anything close to half. Concrete deregulatory action without the promised cost outcome supports PARTIAL at this stage of the term.
