The public-architecture half was delivered: Executive Order 14344 (Aug. 28, 2025) made classical and traditional architecture the preferred style for federal public buildings and the default in Washington, D.C. On conservation, however, the administration moved in 2025-2026 to rescind the 2001 Roadless Rule, opening tens of millions of acres of protected national forest to road-building and expanded logging, a step that removed existing conservation protections rather than restoring conservation efforts. The promise was kept in part and contradicted in part.
