Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
On Jan. 20, 2025, Trump signed Executive Order 14165 'Securing Our Borders,' revoking the prior administration's approach by ending CBP One entry scheduling, terminating the CHNV categorical parole programs, resuming the Migrant Protection Protocols, and directing an end to catch-and-release. By November 2025, CBP reported the lowest start-of-fiscal-year encounter totals on record and a seventh consecutive month of zero releases of apprehended border crossers. The promised reversal of the previous administration's border policies was carried out; the promise's attribution of housing, education, and healthcare costs to those policies is framing rather than a separate deliverable.
