Schumer was a lead author (with Sen. Todd Young) of the CHIPS and Science Act (H.R.4346), which invested roughly $52 billion in domestic semiconductor manufacturing and research. As Majority Leader he drove it to Senate passage 64-33 on July 27, 2022, voting Yea; President Biden signed it into law August 9, 2022, and it later spurred multi-billion-dollar chip projects including Micron in upstate New York.
