Cruz reintroduced legislation to eliminate the IRA methane emissions charge in January 2025 and continued to champion its removal. In the reconciliation 'One Big Beautiful Bill' (P.L. 119-21, signed July 4, 2025), for which Cruz voted, the methane Waste Emissions Charge was not fully repealed but its effective date was pushed from 2024 to 2034, delaying the fee for a decade rather than striking it permanently. Cruz led the repeal effort and secured a major delay, but full statutory repeal as promised did not occur.
