Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
Both cited sources are reachable and support genuine leadership (not merely a vote/support), which is the bar for CHAMPIONED. Source 1 (Luján's official 2025 year-end review) confirms both cited quotes VERBATIM: 'Senator Luján successfully secured $202,188,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending for 13 critical New Mexico projects.' and 'Of the legislative work that Senator Luján championed, 6 bills authored by Senator Luján were signed into law.' These document authorship of enacted bills and securing enacted NM funding — real leadership beyond a vote. Source 2 (Heinrich's office) confirms Luján CO-INTRODUCED the bipartisan American Innovation and Jobs Act (Aug 22, 2025) to expand the refundable R&D tax credit for NM startups and small businesses — sponsorship/co-authorship of a business/jobs policy, again leadership beyond a vote. Two caveats trim confidence: (a) Source 1's two verbatim quotes are generic to legislative output rather than explicitly framed around 'businesses and workers,' so the business/worker link there is inferential; and (b) Source 2's second quote ('expands the refundable R&D tax credit and extends it to more startups and small businesses') is an accurate PARAPHRASE, not a single verbatim string — its substance is documented in the release ('Raising the cap over time for the refundable R&D tax credit for small businesses and startups'; 'Expanding eligibility... so that more startups and new businesses can use it'), so it is not a fabrication. Because leadership is genuine (authored 6 enacted bills, secured $202M CDS, co-introduced an R&D/jobs bill for NM businesses) and no source is unreachable or misrepresented, CHAMPIONED stands. Nonpartisan basis: rests solely on documented official actions, applying the same authorship/sponsorship-vs-vote standard used for any member.
