Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
All three cited sources were fetched and verified. (1) E&E News confirms the exact quote "have all signed on to a stalled Green New Deal proposal in Congress," documenting that Schiff cosponsored the GND resolution, which stalled and never passed. (2) Newsweek confirms the exact quote "I think priority number one for me is going to be fighting to do away with the filibuster," and ties filibuster elimination to climate action. (3) Washington Examiner confirms the quote "we can attack climate change even more vigorously, just as we did the last few years" (within a longer sentence), tying filibuster elimination to his climate agenda. The two-pronged promise — fight to pass the GND, including by eliminating the filibuster — is partially fulfilled: Schiff took concrete action on both prongs (GND cosponsorship; making filibuster elimination his stated top priority) but achieved neither objective, and now sits in the Senate minority with no floor-vote opportunity to end the filibuster. That is doing part of what was promised = PARTIAL. Correctly not CHAMPIONED: he cosponsored rather than authored/led the GND (Ocasio-Cortez/Markey authored it) and is one of many filibuster-reform advocates, with no leadership evidence in the sources. Not FULL (neither goal achieved). Not ATTEMPTED/NO_OPPORTUNITY (he took the real opportunities that existed and the fight is ongoing). The outcome does not overstate the evidence. Confidence is moderate because reasonable graders could weigh unreached goals as ATTEMPTED.
