Assessments

CHAMPIONED is upheld. The two load-bearing primary sources — both Fischer's own .gov press releases — are reachable and directly document real LEADERSHIP of the exact legislative vehicle named in the promise, not a mere vote or expression of support. The 2023 release (Jul 27 2023) shows Fischer introducing/leading the LAST ACRE Act with Sen. Ben Ray Lujan as co-leader, aimed at extending broadband beyond rural residences to farmland/ranchland for precision agriculture, and it contains the verbatim phrase "It's time for us to connect the last mile to the last acre." The 2025 release (May 06 2025) shows her reintroducing the LAST ACRE Act (S.1617) as lead sponsor within her Precision Ag Package, again co-led with Lujan, creating a new Last Acre Program at USDA's Office of Rural Development to expand network connectivity across farmland and ranchland. That is sustained authorship/leadership across two Congresses — the CHAMPIONED standard. It is CHAMPIONED rather than FULL because the bill has not passed either chamber or become law, so broadband has not actually reached the last acre yet. The rating's source-1 "quote" was a stitched paraphrase (ellipses) rather than a single verbatim string, but every factual element is present on the page, so it is accurate, not fabricated — I replaced it with the page's verbatim text.
