Assessments
evidence-backed verdictsThese are sourced verdicts from fact-checkers or community evidence reviews — not opinions.
Both cited PRIMARY sources are reachable and both quotes appear verbatim. The CHAMPIONED rating rests principally on Source 1 (Feb 2026 Kennedy Senate press release), which documents genuine LEADERSHIP: Kennedy personally AUTHORED the Ending Improper Payments to Deceased People Act ("I wrote this common-sense bill to end this outrageous abuse permanently"), which President Trump signed into law and which "will save hard-earned taxpayer money by curbing erroneous payments to individuals who have passed away." Authorship plus enactment of anti-waste legislation squarely meets the CHAMPIONED bar (sponsored/authored/led) for the broad pledge to "always prioritize ways to save taxpayer money." Source 2 (Jul 2025 rescissions) is weaker: it verifies that Kennedy VOTED for a $9 billion rescissions package, but the source confirms he did NOT sponsor, author, or lead it — the package originated from the administration/DOGE — so the rationale's characterization of "publicly led floor advocacy" overstates this particular source. That overstatement does not defeat CHAMPIONED, however, because Source 1 independently establishes the required leadership. Confidence held at moderate (0.72) given the aspirational vagueness of "always prioritize" and Kennedy's documented countervailing support for deficit-increasing measures.
