ChampionedFact-checker reviewConfidence: 80%

Adversarial re-check upholds the outcome but corrects two details in the prior rating. (1) The pledge is real and verbatim, but it is dated December 5, 2023, not October 2023 as the prior rationale stated: 'As Senator, Tim Sheehy will work to ban individual stock, bonds, commodities, and all other securities trading by members of Congress and their spouses.' (2) The prior GovTrack citation could not be retrieved (HTTP 403), so it is replaced with the GPO/GovInfo bill-status record, which I fetched and verified directly. On the substance: the congress.gov introduced-text XML confirms Sheehy is the sponsor of S.3201, the Good Government Act of 2025, introduced November 19, 2025, whose operative text bars 'a Member of Congress, or any spouse or dependent child of a Member of Congress' from holding, purchasing, or selling any covered financial instrument (securities, security futures, commodities, and derivative equivalents), with a divestment/qualified-blind-trust requirement. Authoring his own vehicle that matches the pledge's scope is more than a supporting vote, which is the CHAMPIONED threshold, and the rubric expressly allows CHAMPIONED where the effort was not enacted. I applied the same standard I would to any party: sole sponsorship of a bill matching the pledge is the definitional CHAMPIONED case, and ATTEMPTED (+0.25) is a poor fit because it describes the lesser act of voting for or advancing someone else's measure. Confidence stays at 0.8 rather than higher because the GovInfo status record shows S.3201 drew zero cosponsors and has had no action since being referred to Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on the day of introduction, and because I independently confirmed from the cosponsor lists that Sheehy did not join either leading Senate vehicle: Hawley's HONEST Act (S.1498), which was reported out of committee and placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar on December 10, 2025, or Ossoff's Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act (S.1879), which has 18 cosponsors. Checked for a downgrade to MISALIGNED or ABSTAINED and found no support: S.1498's latest recorded action is placement on the calendar, so no Senate floor vote on a stock-trading ban has occurred for Sheehy to have opposed or ducked. Limitation: web search quota was exhausted this session, so this re-check rests on primary legislative records fetched directly rather than on secondary news coverage.
