Independently verified: Amish Shah made this federal-office promise as a Democratic candidate for U.S. House in Arizona's 1st Congressional District. He LOST the November 5, 2024 general election to Republican incumbent David Schweikert by roughly 51.9% to 48.1% (225,538 to 208,966), so he never took federal office and has had no opportunity to vote on federal Medicare or Social Security legislation. His prior service in the Arizona State House (District 24, 2019-2023; District 5, 2023-2024; resigned February 2024) does not provide a venue for direct action on these federal programs. He is again the Democratic nominee for AZ-01 in the 2026 cycle (won the July 21, 2026 primary; faces Jay Feely in the November 2026 general). NO_OPPORTUNITY is the correct outcome under a neutral standard — a same-shape federal promise from a losing candidate of either party would be rated the same.
