Assessments

Verified independently. Clerk of the U.S. House Roll Call 23 confirms Barrett voted Yea on S. 5 (Laken Riley Act), Jan 22, 2025, passed 263-156. Barrett's own office press release confirms his support: 'This bill passed with considerable bipartisan support, and it marks the first step we've taken to secure our border.' He also voted Yea on H.R. 7744 (March 5, 2026, 221-209) to fully fund DHS. As a freshman rank-and-file House member (took office Jan 2025), he consistently voted for the GOP border-enforcement package but did not sponsor or lead any of these bills. The border wall is not complete. Under a nonpartisan standard, a member of the opposite party with the same voting record and non-lead role would receive the same PARTIAL rating — kept some of the promise (enforcement votes, DHS funding) but neither FULL (wall not complete) nor CHAMPIONED (not the sponsor/driver).
